AIQS Best Practice Charter and
signatory firms
The AIQS Best Practice Charter is
designed to identify those QS firms with AIQS members who are
committed to providing the highest standards of professional
service to the clients, as well as attain best practice
standards of OH&S, research and development, staff training,
etc. The Best Practice Charter is an Australian initiative and
is recognised by the International Cost Engineering Council
which is the world body for the QS profession. Firms that are
committed to these best practice standards are signatories to
the AIQS Best Practice Charter and are listed following the
summary of the Charter principles below:

Practice Charter Principles
All signatories to the Charter
agree to:

Encourage excellence and observe
the highest standards of professional practice as laid down in
AIQS published Practice Notes, Competency Standards, Manuals,
Guidelines and Code of Professional Conduct for members.

Encourage management and staff to
maintain and constantly update their professional knowledge
and skills, maintain a comprehensive office/firm library of
professional texts, journals, Practice Notes,
reports/submissions manuals etc.

Embrace new technologies so that
the extent and standard of our professional services are
continually at the “cutting edge” of best practice.

Support the AIQS in its joining of
the Green House Challenge and environmental sustainability.

Participate, to the best of our
ability in AIQS sanctioned research projects, undertake
in-house research, within our available resources, and to
share non-commercially sensitive research with the QS
profession.

Encourage innovation in the
preparation, presentation and delivery of our professional
services, management and administration.

Compete for business in the
profession and industry in a fair and honourable manner and
not to contravene the Trade Practices Act and related Federal
and State legislation relating to anticompetitive behaviour.

Not to misrepresent, either
intentionally or by accident, our engagement status by
potential or confirmed clients, so that other potential
clients may feel obliged to use our services because of that
representation.

Maintain an appropriate level of
professional indemnity insurance for the firm, its directors,
partners and employees.

Establish and maintain in-house
quality assurance procedures equivalent to those required for
independent QA certification

Provide in-house or other training
for new graduate employees or other new employees to assist
them to undertake the duties expected of them.

The best of our ability,
co-operate with local universities to provide practical work
experience for undergraduate students and employ QS cadets and
assist them to progress to profession-al status eg as AIQS
Associate members.

Promote the highest standards of
OH & S both within the office and on site.
