QLD CPD: Contract Law Workshop Series
Doyles Construction Lawyers present a workshop series on Contract Law. Participants may register for a single session or for the whole series.
About the speaker
Chris Harriss is a practicing construction lawyer, with experience in the litigation, negotiation and adjudication of construction disputes.  Chris has advised subcontractors, head contractors, and developers on contractual matters.  He is also a registered adjudicator, deciding matters in Queensland and New South Wales under the relevant Security of Payment acts.
Chris also holds degree qualifications in Construction Management/Quantity Surveying and Project Management, and is an experienced contract administrator and project manager on commercial, industrial and residential projects.  He has over 20 years' experience in capital works procurement and delivery.

Employees who are exposed to general commercial operations and those who work with construction contracts on a routine basis as either principal’s representative, superintendent, quantity surveyor or contractor.

Nexus between payments under the contract and payments under the SOP Act
Impact of relevant SOP clauses such as:
         - Pay when paid
         - Defects liability linked to the head contract
         - Time for payments due
         - Impact of contract requirements for progress claims on SOP claims
         - Suspension of works
         - Effect of Court review of adjudicators decisions
         - Recourse to security 
Tricks and traps of making an adjudication application
