Webinar: BIM - Revisions & the Living Cost Estimate

Webinar: BIM - Revisions & the Living Cost Estimate
Join Tony Shaw from Exactal, as he demonstrates the use of BIM and associated technologies to maintain a living cost estimate throughout the life of a construction project.
Cost estimates are generally seen as a one-off deliverable and, as such, are often out of date before they are even complete. The advent of BIM and the inherent intelligence that each model contains makes it possible to ‘revision’ a model at any stage to give a visual comparison of the design changes and have those changes dynamically linked into cost estimates.

The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate that, through the use of BIM and its associated technologies, it is possible to maintain a living cost estimate throughout the life of a construction project.

Thank you to Exactal for sponsoring this webinar, which means that you receive a lower registration price!

What You will learn

The presentation will use a mixture of PowerPoint slides and live use of CostX estimating software to extract parametric information from a BIM file, dynamically link it into a cost estimate and then ‘revision’ it based on a new model design to produce an updated estimate value. The focus will be on real world use i.e. how to overcome ‘issues’ with the model and its parametric data, how to visualize the design changes, how to identify take-off that has not been included in the estimate and the like.

Who should attend

Quantity Surveyors who work with BIM or are interested in working with BIM, and others in the construction chain who work with Quantity Surveyors and BIM.
