How to Apply

Application forms can be downloaded from our Join AIQS area, any further information may be obtained from the National Membership Officer at National Office.

Applications shall be made in writing to the National Membership Officer on the appropriate Application Form giving full details of qualifications and experience, signed by both applicant and proposer. On the recommendations of the National Membership Officer for Students, Probationers and Technicians and a Chapter Council or Overseas Section Committee for Affiliates, Council will approve such applications.

Documentary proof of qualifications claimed (copy of degree, diploma or certificate and academic record) should be supplied. Approved work experience under approved supervision must be substantiated by letter from the applicants various employers. Photocopies will be accepted but onus of proof remains with the applicant. A certified English language translation of foreign language documents must be provided.

Overseas resident applicants should apply directly to the National Office and will be attached to the Overseas Section (OSS).

The Institute may reject any application for any class of membership which, in its opinion, is inappropriate to the applicant’s qualifications, or may alter and accept the application in the appropriate class.

Rejected applicants will be advised of the reason for rejection and shall have the right of appeal to a committee established by Council for the purpose which shall contain none of the persons on any previous assessment committee or panel. Parties to an appeal shall be responsible for any and all of their own costs involved in the appeal.

Subscription and Fees

Applicants undertake to pay the appropriate Annual Subscription plus Entrance Fee, Transfer Fee or Re-instatement Fee (as applicable) within two months of the date of notice. Subscriptions lodged during the year will be applied pro-rata from the month of admission. Subsequent Annual Subscriptions are payable on 30 June each year.

Note for Affiliate Applications

There is a non-refundable Application fee of ($100 for overseas applications) and ($110 for Australian applicants – included GST). This must accompany your application for Affiliate membership.

This application fee will be credited to the Entrance Fee if your application is approved.
