The Sri Lankan branch of the International Chapter AIQS in Association with the Contractors Preservation Forum are organising a panel discussion as a webinar on Post COVID19 –Construction Operations and Employment Management strategies for the construction industry in Sri Lanka and an overview of the Middle East.

Construction creates value, however due to the current pandemic the business models of almost all stakeholders in the construction industry will have to be realigned. There have been a number of questions posed to industry leaders for discussion in order to act collaboratively.

All construction activities have fallen due to COVID 19 such as house building, commercial activities and infrastructure activities. Due to the impact on manufacturing and production there are stoppages, such as long lead times for delivery of construction materials, impacting severely on supply chains.

Many industry professionals and construction contractors forced to work remotely will also pose a number of challenges to site operations and employment. The pandemic is forcing every sector to find and strive for innovative and quick adaptive solutions. This crisis has also given an opportunity for all of us in the construction industry to rethink construction priorities. It is also about playing the important role we have in supporting our economy. It is a mammoth task for the construction industry and we are more than ready to face the challenge.
