Trust Account Update

Join the QLD Chapter for this session on Trust Account updates.

This information session will cover an overview of the trust account requirements including:

• when a trust account is required and whether they apply to projects that you are involved in
• the two different types of trusts accounts – when and how to use them
• what to do after you’ve entered a contract that requires a trust account
• the impact of the framework on Quantity Surveyors working in the industry.

About the Speaker

Omar Ameer
Director Financial Compliance, Queensland Building and Construction Commission

Omar is the Director Financial Compliance with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission. Omar oversees the QBCC’s regulatory responsibilities for the financial aspects of the construction industry in Queensland, including compliance with minimum financial requirements, exclusion from holding a licence following an insolvency event and auditing of construction industry trust accounts.

Prior to joining the QBCC Omar held a number of roles with Queensland’s environmental regulator over a 13 year career at that agency, which followed his first career as a solicitor practising in the areas of insolvency and debt recovery litigation.
