Exactal National CPD Road Show is LAUNCHED!
We are delighted to announce the launch of our inaugural Exactal CPD National Road Show with Dr Ken Walsh. This will be the first time that the AIQS institute will provide a CPD experience of this nature, where we will deliver the same engaging content, travelling to all states within a two week period.
Dr Ken Walsh is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Civil, Construction Engineering and Management at San Diego State University. He holds BSE, MS and Ph.D degrees in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University.
Dr Ken Walsh (San Diego) is a key person in the area of lean construction.
Lean Construction is a combination of original research and development in design and construction with an adaption of lean manufacturing principles and practices to the end-to-end design and construction process. Unlike manufacturing, construction is a project based-production process. Lean construction is concerned with the holistic pursuit of concurrent and continuous improvements in all dimensions of the built and natural environment: design, construction, activation, maintenance, salvaging, and recycling.
This approach tries to manage and improve construction processes with minimum cost and maximum value by considering customer needs.
Ken Walsh will draw on his recent work funded by the Construction Industry Institute to compare design and assembly processes in modern commercial shipbuilding and the construction industry.

NATIONAL EVENTS CALENDAR
It's Arrived!
We are pleased to launch our anticipated National Events Calendar which, as mentioned last week, will serve as a reference for all Chapters and members in order to see the hive of activity that is taking place across the country.
This is an organic and evolving document, so events will be added on an ongoing basis as they are confirmed. Over time we will develop a function on the AIQS website so that everyone can log in and observe the calendar whenever they wish, but for now we will be publishing it through the e-bulletin each week.
You will notice that there are many CPD event opportunities in 2012, with touring road shows (current dates are tentative only) visiting every state featuring fantastic guest speakers and engaging content. For those members outside of the major cities, we intend on providing live webinar access to some of these events so that everybody has the opportunity to experience the speakers in live time.
