Expert Witness paper launched in Sydney
Last night, 27 July 2023, 40 quantity surveying and law professionals gathered at WT office in Sydney to celebrate the successful launch of the AIQS Expert Witness Information Paper. The event aimed to demystify the complex world of the Quantum Expert Witness and inspire the next generation of quantity surveyors to explore exciting career opportunities in this field.
The evening commenced with an introduction to the Information Paper by Stephen Bolt, a highly-regarded Quantum Expert. Stephen's wealth of experience in this area and participation in the group writing the paper provided deep insights into the information provided.
Stephen took the audience through the journey of accepting instruction, preparation, giving evidence, cross-examination and the duties and responsibilities of an expert.
Distinguished barrister Lucas Shipway from Greenway Chambers, took the stage to speak to confidentiality and legal professional privilege from the legal standpoint and provided the audience with a deeper understanding of the interplay between expert witnesses and the legal process.
The event also provided attendees with an excellent opportunity to expand their professional networks. Professionals from various sectors, including quantity surveying, law, construction, and engineering, were able to connect and exchange ideas.
