We are in an unprecedented economic time where construction raw materials prices are soaring, commodity prices are escalating, the mortgage interest rate is lifting, builders are facing the risks of winding up and the number of insolvencies is also growing. Businesses are having trouble recruiting workers to complete the tasks. Housing affordability remains a crisis and many are wondering, what are the implications of these for the construction industry? What direction could the construction industry heading? And where does our future lies? How can quantity surveyors assist clients in the current market conditions?

Join us for an informative session on Economic Outlook in the Construction Industry, where we have invited special speakers:

  • Dr Dan Bunting is an experienced construction industry forecaster, who has been forecasting activity and costs in the construction industry for more than a decade.
  • Sam Bennet is the Senior Manager in the Business Advisory & Assurance team at Pitcher Partners, specifically, how the property-related taxes impact the industry
  • Peter Watt is the advisor of Northcroft (Victoria) and has been practising as QS for 50 years in the construction industry.

  • Overall economic recovery/ inflationary pressures/ influence from COVID-19
  • Overall business outlook and support/ tax measure/ Construction economy
  • Infrastructure works/ Housing affordability
  • Environmental protection/ Zero carbon emission.

Light lunch will be provided before the start of the session (between 12pm and 12.30pm).
