The Building Commission NSW Women in Construction Report provides informed recommendations to increase female participation in the industry and address some of the systemic challenges they face in their career.

With more than 100,000 skilled construction workers needed to meet the demand for housing supply in NSW, the report confronts longstanding issues which need to be addressed to meet productivity aims.

Vanessa Carmody-Smith, Acting Executive Director, Policy & Programs Building Commission NSW

Vanessa is leading the industry capability uplift of the building and construction industry for Building Commission NSW. Driving collaboration with educators and industry professionals to develop an innovative digital learning platform and energise training and education standards across the industry.

In addition to driving education uplift Vanessa has recently led the Commission's first women in construction survey considering the barriers for women to enter the construction industry and remain. Industry culture is a focus for Vanessa to attract the new generation.
