About the AIQS Donald Napier Scholarship

Through the generosity of the late Donald Napier, AIQS is able to support the future leaders of the profession as they begin their university degree.

AIQS offers a number of scholarships each year for Year 12 students who qualify for entry into a construction management degree which is AIQS accredited in Australia.

There are four scholarships offered each year

  1. General (open to all people)
  2. First Nations people (Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
  3. Disadvantaged (financial, carer, medical condition or disability, regional or remote)
  4. Diversity (including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, age, religion, marital status, language)

The value of the scholarship is AU$5,000 and includes:

  • AUD$4,000 ($1,000 upon enrolment, $1,000 after completion of eight units, $2,000 upon completion of degree)
  • Textbooks and manuals published by AIQS - Australian and New Zealand Standard Method of Measurement and Australian Cost Management Manual
  • AIQS Student membership whilst studying the accredited degree
  • AIQS Graduate membership for one year (post-graduation)

All applications are reviewed and scored. Only submissions reaching the minimum score will be put forward for judging in each of the four categories.

AIQS Donald Napier Scholarship award details

Award value: $5,000

Award duration: Course length

Award purpose: The AIQS Donald Napier Scholarship provides funds to contribute towards studying a relevant academic qualification in the built environment.

Number of awards: 4 per annum

Basis of award grant: candidates are assessed on four criteria (1) reasons for choice of course (2) reasons for request of scholarship, (3) commitment to furthering the quantity surveying profession, and (4) future career goals.

Requirements for applicants: during the tenure of their award, students will be required to sign in with AIQS after each milestone to receive their payments, and they will be asked to meet with their local AIQS QSEP representatives twice yearly.
