Digital Twins and AI: Transforming Cost Management in Construction
24 February, 2026 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm AEDT
$38.00 - $50.00
Digital technologies such as digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly influencing cost management and measurement practices in construction. These innovations enable data-rich environments where real-time information, predictive analytics, and intelligent systems support more accurate forecasting and lifecycle cost planning. For quantity surveying, this means moving beyond static measurement toward dynamic, integrated models that can interact with and engage end users. This also incorporates performance data, energy optimisation strategies, and advanced simulation capabilities.
AI-driven tools are enhancing processes such as automated quantity take-off, probabilistic cost modelling, and risk analysis, while digital twins provide a virtual representation of physical assets, enabling scenario testing and continuous performance monitoring. These developments are not replacing core QS expertise but complementing it with data intelligence and computational insights.
As these technologies mature, the profession will benefit from capabilities in data interpretation, parametric modelling, and collaborative digital workflows. Understanding how to leverage intelligence systems will be key to delivering value in increasingly complex and sustainability-driven projects. This session will explore practical applications, emerging trends, and the future needed skills that will shape the future of measurement and cost planning.
