Artificial intelligence is reshaping the built environment, and quantity surveying is entering a period of significant professional transformation. While much of the discussion around AI has focused on automation and productivity, less attention has been given to what these technological changes mean for the future role and identity of the quantity surveyor.
This webinar examines AI from both academic and industry perspectives, exploring current applications across quantity surveying practice and their implications for professional jurisdiction, knowledge, expertise, roles, judgement and emerging skill requirements. Participants will gain practical guidance on organisational AI readiness, including data governance, information security, AI governance frameworks and workforce capability development, alongside examples of AI-enabled tools currently available to the profession.

Syidah Arnold is a Director of Irion Digital, a digital advisory consultancy that helps organisations in the built environment leverage data, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to address persistent and emerging industry challenges.
A recently retired quantity surveyor and current PhD researcher, her research examines how AI is reshaping the professional identity of quantity surveyors and the implications for future practice.
Drawing on 20 years of experience across quantity surveying, architecture, real estate and digital transformation, she bridges industry and academia to support the practical adoption of digital tools and AI. She is passionate about helping the construction sector adopt emerging technologies through pragmatic, no-frills solutions that translate complex AI and digital concepts into clear, usable language.
