Introduction to Data Centre Cost Management
25 February @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AEDT
Free
Data centres are one of the fastest-growing and most complex asset classes in the built environment, yet they remain unfamiliar territory for many quantity surveyors. This introductory webinar provides an overview of cost management and quantity surveying for data centre developments, with a strong client-side focus.
Delivered as a joint initiative by AIQS QSEP and NZIQS QSEP, and hosted as part of the PAQS YQS program, this webinar is designed for students, graduates, and early-career professionals seeking to build foundational knowledge in this rapidly evolving sector.
Our two webinar presenters will explore how data centres differ from traditional building projects, key capital cost drivers (particularly the dominance of building services), early feasibility and budgeting considerations, and the impact of power density, scalability, and long-lead equipment on cost planning. The presenters will also discuss procurement strategies commonly adopted for data centres, market and supply-chain constraints, risk and contingency management, and the role of whole-of-life cost thinking in supporting client decision-making.
Whether you are new to data centres or looking to broaden your professional capability, this webinar will provide a useful introduction to an asset class that is shaping the future of the construction and infrastructure industry
