Site Visit to UTS Robotics Lab – Human Robot Teaming for Sustainable Resilient Construction

5 November @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm AEDT

$20.00 - $25.00

Join us for an evening at UTS exploring how human–robot teaming could influence and shape the future of the construction industry. Hosted by the ARC Research Hub for Human-Robot Teaming for Sustainable and Resilient Construction (HaRTCon), the event will introduce research into human-centric robotics and AI designed to help people and robots work safely and effectively together.

Through presentations and live laboratory demonstrations, attendees will see examples of robotics being developed for the real construction environment and consider potential implications for quantity surveying, including productivity assumptions, cost planning, risk, quality, waste reduction and more.

The session will also examine the practical, commercial, and other factors that influence how robotics can move from research to industry adoption, and the role quantity surveyors can play in evaluating feasibility and value.

The evening will conclude with networking and refreshments.

Please arrive at 5:00pm for a 5:30pm event start time.

Places are limited, so secure your registration today.

    Name
    Dikai Liu
    Biography

Dikai Liu is Director of the ARC Research Hub for Human-Robot Teaming for Sustainable and Resilient Construction, Distinguished Professor in robotics at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, and IEEE RAS Distinguished Lecturer. His research interest is robotics, an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science. His fundamental robotics research focuses on field robotics and human-robot collaboration.

Dikai’s research on Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC) addresses a fundamental question: how can a robot physically collaborate with humans? His research focuses on robot-interpretable human models and controls that enable safe and intuitive physical human-robot collaboration, including human performance and strength modelling, trust modelling, brain-robot interface, cognitive conflict in HRC, model-based assistance-as-needed paradigms, trust-based role arbitration, shared control, human intention recognition, and safety frameworks.
