The Opportunity
The Cost Manager provides specialist advice and leadership in managing budget and cost risks across a portfolio of government building projects. Working in partnership with lead agencies, the role supports the delivery of social infrastructure outcomes through effective cost planning, risk analysis and governance. The position contributes to consistent standards, value for money and the minimisation of cost impacts for Government assets

About you
You are a collaborative professional who works effectively with staff and stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes and support continuous improvement. You demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines under limited direction. You communicate clearly and succinctly, apply strong analytical skills and build productive partnerships to achieve service delivery and performance objectives.

Educational Qualifications / Licences

  • Appropriate degree in Building, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management accredited or recognised by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
  • Special Conditions
  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • May be assigned to an area where the role is classified as a position of trust. A satisfactory criminal history / record check in line with departmental policies and procedures may be required.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
  • A current Drivers Licence is essential.
