Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with solid civil, marine and construction expertise to support the delivery of studies and client‑facing project roles. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with extensive experience in tender methodologies and a sound understanding of large‑scale resource and industrial projects. Experience working within a consultancy or an organisation similar to ours will be highly regarded. You will need strong time‑management and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates from first principles using AACE international guidelines
- Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work for constructability and completeness
- Develop and maintain cost plans, Basis of Estimates, BOQs and pricing models
- Develop RFQs and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing
- Work closely with clients to align pricing with construction methodology
- Manage optioneering processes, including the evaluation and comparison of alternative technical and delivery options for cost and constructability.
- Develop and assess CAPEX and OPEX cost models, including whole-of-life cost analyses to support investment decisions.
- Identify project risks, assumptions and exclusions within reports
- Participate in site visits, briefings and scope reviews
- Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
- Present study findings and estimates to clients in workshops or via Teams
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as an Estimator in the construction industry (5 years plus in similar roles)
- Proven project site experience (road, rail, marine, ports, civil and services infrastructure)
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and cost drivers
- Experience working on large-scale or major construction projects
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Experience sourcing and managing subcontractor pricing
- High attention to detail and strong understanding of design processes
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant construction or engineering qualifications (desirable)
- MAIQS, CQS (desirable)
