Senior Contract Administrator

Position Description

We have an immediate requirement for a Senior Contract Administrator to join our growing Brisbane Team. We work alongside delivery teams to provide practical, commercially focused advice that protects outcomes and strengthens project performance.

As a Senior Contract Administrator, you’ll play a key role in managing the commercial and contractual performance of complex major projects. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident operating across a multitude of different contracting models, high value claims and variations, and sophisticated procurement models. In this role you will be required to:

  • Support procurement and subcontracting efforts which accompany our major projects.
  • Advise on appropriate procurement methods and advise project teams on issues relating to entitlement and contractual risk.
  • Develop and administer contracts, including head contracts and subcontracts.
  • Prepare, assess, and negotiate on progress claims.
  • Develop and implement processes and controls to manage change.
  • Prepare and/or respond to claims centred upon EOT’s, Variations, etc; and
  • Commercial reporting, cost forecasting, and cost control.

Qualification

  • Bachelor of Urban Development (QS), Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent degree of relevance; and
  • 8+ years of industry experience preferably within advisory positions and/or working within a major projects environment.

Expertise and knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience with managing contracts and strong contract interpretation skills.
  • Experience across a broad spectrum of different contract types and contracting arrangements.
  • Experience with efficiently navigating through project records to support claims narrative and responses.
  • Knowledge of software typically relied upon to support commercial functions, such as MS Excel, Expert Estimator, Primavera P6, Power Bi, etc; and
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and work health and safety procedures and policies.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Other expectations that accompany the role

  • Present high-quality work that is of a standard that can be presented to clients without major intervention from Directors/Work supervisor.
  • Generate quality work via current Mersa clients and generate new work opportunities wherever possible.
  • Work autonomously with guidance from management where required.
  • Option to travel for work on occasion/as required is desirable (not essential) given that Mersa maintains a national footprint across our project portfolio.

 

Industry experience/memberships

  • Active member of industry body such as RICS, AIQS or equivalent desirable.
