Home Construction Cost Assessments for NSW Estimated Development Cost Reports Recent Government Submissions

Recent Government Submissions

AIQS recently sought input from all Australian Chapter Councillors and invited feedback from AIQS members. The responses received were highly valuable, demonstrating clear alignment in member views on the future direction of the quantity surveying profession. This feedback formed the foundation of the final AIQS submissions, ensuring they reflected the majority perspective of our members’ responses. AIQS extends thanks to everyone who contributed, your time and effort involved is much appreciated.

Government submissions lodged in February 2026:

Streamlining and Modernising the National Construction Code
The AIQS submission on Streamlining and Modernising the National Construction Code (NCC) presents the need for clearer governance, consistent national rules, and independent cost modelling to support better planning and more efficient housing delivery. Our submission calls for simpler processes, improved digital tools, greater transparency so the NCC is easier to use and understand across the industry, emphasising the need for innovation and more diverse housing options while reducing approval delays and removing unnecessary complexity.

Review of the Statutory Declarations Act
The AIQS submission on the Review of the Statutory Declarations Act highlights a need for clearer national guidance and more consistent acceptance of digital statutory declarations to reduce delays and improve efficiency across the built environment. While addressing these issues, our submission places particular emphasis on quantity surveyors being added to the Approved Witness List.
